History of Gurdwara Dukhnivaran Sahib:

Gurdwara Shri Dukh Niwaran Sahib Patiala the sacred sanctum of Sikhism and is arranged at Sirhind Road Patiala which is in closeness of Patiala Bus Stand and Patiala Railway Station. This place was graced by Ninth Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji.
According to and old manually written report which is as yet introduce in the Gurdwara, a villager named Bhag Ram of Lehal went to the neighboring town of Saifabad (as of now Bahadurgarh) and asked for Shri Guru Sri Tegh Bahadur Ji to visit Lehal town and favor that zone which was enamored by a lethal and puzzling illness. In the wake of hearing this, Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji went to Lehal town on Magh Sudi 5, 1728 Bikram i.e. 24th January 1672.

Guru ji invested some energy close by the town lake by lecturing and reflecting under a Banyan tree. Presently the town disposed of that savage illness. Dukniwaran Sahib was the name given to where Guru Ji sat which actually implies the ‘eradicator of affliction’. The lake ended up renowned for its restoring temperances.

Gurdwara Shri Dukh Niwaran Sahib Patiala is currently kept up by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee. By the shared endeavors of donators and SGPC day by day Langar is kept running in which free nourishment is offered to all with no kind of separation.
